What Is A Root Canal?

The root canal is the natural cavity lying within the centre of a tooth. Within it sits the pulp chamber and the nerve.

Root canal treatment is undertaken when tooth decay or infection has advanced and it is the only way to fix or repair the tooth. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.

What Is The Treatment For Root Canal?

The first step, to make you feel as comfortable as possible during a root canal procedure from our expert dentist.

When that has fully taken effect, a small hole will be made enabling our expert dentists to assess the tooth, remove decay and fully treat the disease to prevent further damage from happening.

The final stage is to shore up the repaired tooth.

At this point, your dentist will decide whether you require a dental crown to be placed on the tooth, as is often the case. This is because your natural tooth may now be weaker.
